I would like to welcome you to my website and tell you a little about myself. My name is Mrs. D. Entrekin but everyone usually calls me Mrs. E. I have two children, Kylie and Lance. My favorite things to do are read, surf the Internet, pin on Pinterest, walk in my neighborhood, and work on my new hobby-cutting vinyl. I attended North Carolina State University and graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi. I also received my Master's Degree from Arkansas State University. I have taught several different grade levels and subjects in my twenty-one years of teaching, but I enjoy teaching math the most. I hope we have a great year together and that you have fun and learn many new, exciting concepts.
As a teacher, my mission is to:
- inspire every student to become an independent critical thinker who can contribute to society.
- provide a caring and safe environment where all students can enjoy learning.
As a teacher, my philosophy is:
Education is a process that involves many elements working together for a common goal. I believe that … Every student can learn and has the potential to succeed. Every student is an individual and has their own learning style. Every student should be assessed in the way that allows them to best express their abilities. Learning should be student centered. Learning should be authentic and interdisciplinary. Learning should be interactive, engaging and creative. The classroom climate is set by the teacher’s attitude. The classroom creates a family of learners, working together. The classroom should be a safe, inviting and stimulating environment. Teachers are only part of a team. Teachers should have high expectations. Teachers should be role models for their students. Teachers must go above and beyond their teaching duties. Teachers must be adaptable, constantly evaluating their teaching practices and seeking to improve their methods. Teachers work with students, parents, colleagues, administrators and community members.
